What Cardarine is

Class, mechanism, presentation and handling. Reference only.

Reference only. This page covers what the compound is, how it is presented and how it is handled. It does not give dosing protocols or administration schedules, and it is not medical advice.

GW501516 is a PPAR-delta agonist. Peroxisome proliferator activated receptors are nuclear receptors regulating gene transcription around fuel use, and the delta subtype in particular around fatty acid oxidation in skeletal muscle. It is almost universally listed alongside SARMs and is not one: SARMs act on the androgen receptor and cardarine has no androgen receptor activity whatsoever. The grouping is a retail convention rather than a pharmacological one. Development was halted by GSK after long-term rodent carcinogenicity findings, a fact worth knowing and one that listings rarely mention.

How Cardarine compares

Against actual SARMs such as ostarine or RAD-140: entirely different receptor family, no androgen receptor involvement at all. Against stimulant fat loss compounds: cardarine acts on gene transcription rather than on adrenergic signalling, so its mechanism has nothing in common with them either. It is genuinely its own category and is filed under the wrong one nearly everywhere.
